“Hi Todd, It is Evangeline. Where are you?”

“Oh Hi Evangeline I am actually leaving my apartment right now, and heading to the police station.”

“That’s what I like to hear Manning, I better see you there in a few minutes, or I will call John and have him pick you up.”

“Evangeline come on now, you know me better than that. Bo doesn't have enough evidence to arrest me, he just wants to make me think he does. There is no way I am going to jail.”

“I hope you are right Todd. I will see you outside of the station in fifteen okay?”

“Yeah, yeah I'll be there.”

They both hung up the phone and Evangeline gathered her papers and headed out the door and back to the station. When she got there she saw Todd waiting out front for her smiling and looking at his watch.

“Cutting it close aren't we counselor?”

“What do you mean Todd, I am on time, let’s go in I am sure Bo is waiting for us.”

“Yeah I am sure you are right.” They both walked in to the station and went directly in to Bo’s office.

“Thanks for coming back Manning.” Said Bo as they walked into his office.

“Yeah whatever Bo. I am here, now what is it about bribery charges. Who is saying I bribed him and with what?”

“Todd, sit down and be quiet and let me do the talking.”

Todd looked back over at Evangeline and took a seat in a chair in the back of Bo’s office.

“Listen Manning and Evangeline we have a couple of people willing to come forward and say that you bribed them and threatened them with their life if they would not tell you where Asa was.”

“When did this supposedly happen Bo?”

“A couple of days ago counselor. They are saying that Todd came to them and threatened their life and their family’s life if they did not tell Todd where Asa was hiding out. First off I would like to know how you knew whom to talk to.”

“Todd, don't answer that.” Evangeline said turning towards him.

“Oh come on, Evangeline let me answer the commissioner.”

“Todd I told you to keep your mouth shut and let me do the talking.” She said a little pissed at him. “Bo, if this is all you have then I am going to take my client and leave. Call me when you have more evidence against Todd. Otherwise leave him alone.”

“Fine, Counselor, but Manning watch your step.”

“Yeah what ever Bo.” Todd got up to leave, he smiled at Evangeline and left Bo’s office. Evangeline followed him. She was looking down in to her brief case not paying any attention when she felt someone run into her.

“Ohh, my I am so sorry I should pay more attention to where I am going.” She said looking up at whom she had just ran into.

“You should.” Said the familiar husky voice.

“Hi.” She said smiling back up at John. “How did the interview go?”

“I don't want to talk about work. Are you here for Manning?”

“Yeah, he just left, Bo didn't have enough evidence to hold him.”

“So, I take you are done here then?”

“Why yes I am, why do you ask?”

“Well so am I, and I was wondering if you wanted to maybe finish what we started earlier today.” He asked with his head down and one hand on her waist ever so lightly stroking her side and the other hand on his hip. He pulled her closer and she rested her hands on his chest.

“So, you wanna finish what we started earlier huh?” she asked with a raised eyebrow.

Their eyes locked and not a word was said between them, he took her by the wrist and led her out of the police station, “We'll take my car it is faster.” John said.

Evangeline laughed at his statement, “Wait, wait, what about my car?”

“Umm, I will have one of the officers bring it to my place later how about that?” he said stopping mid stride and turning to face her. They were almost to his car when she asked the question.

“Okay, let’s go.” She said with a huge smile.

John opened the car door for her and she slid in. He came around and got into the car started it up and drove as fast as he could back to his place. He kept looking over at her and placed his hand on her thigh and started caressing it. She leaned over and kissed him the cheek and then moved up to his ear and slowly sucked his ear lobe.

“Now, you are going to have to stop doing that or we are going to crash.” John said breathlessly.

“Nope, not going to, and you can't make me.” She said in a sexy whisper into his ear as she continued to lightly flick her tongue against his ear.

His hand slowly crept its way up her inner thigh. She put her hand on top of his and stopped it from moving any further. “Not, yet.” She said. She moved her lips lower on his neck and kissed it and let her tongue explore every inch of it. Her other hand went through his hair and his head tilted towards her. His eyes started to close and he had to force them to stay open.

“You, know this is so unfair.”

“I know. I like that.” She said pulling back a little. She looked at him and saw how into her touch he was and she pressed her lips against his neck again.

“Finally.” John said as he pulled into the parking spot at the hotel. He turned the car off and quickly hopped out of the car. Evangeline did the same and he took her hand into his he pulled her into him and they stumbled into the hotel. John let Evangeline go up the stairs first watching her walk up the stairs sent him in to frenzy. The swish of her hips he stopped mid step to watch her walk up the stairs.

“Are you coming?” she asked turning back around looking at him smiling she extended her hand to him and he took it.

“You don't have to ask me twice.” He replied smiling.

Evangeline stopped at his door and turned around while John fished for his keys in his pocket. He leaned in to the door placing a hand on the door above her head. She eyed him up and down taking in everything. Her hands traveled up his chest and she wrapped them around his neck. She pulled him closer and kissed him hard on the lips letting her tongue part his lips and sink into his mouth. John dropped his keys and wrapped his arms around her waist. The kiss made John’s knees buckle and he feel deeper into the kiss. Evangeline pulled back and smiled at him. “Are we going in or are we just going to stand out here all afternoon?”

John laughed and be bent down and picked up his keys. Evangeline stood there in front of the door staring at him as he tried desperately to find the right key to open the door. He finally found the right key and the door swung open. He placed his hands on her stomach and backed her into the apartment.

She pulled off her jacket and he did the same. She reached for his tie and started losing it and then pulled it over his head. He backed her up until she reached the bed and she fell back onto it kicking her shoes off as she did. He fell on the bed next to her and looked her deep into those beautiful brown eyes.

“You are the sexist woman I have ever laid my eyes on.” John said as he moved into closer to kiss her.

Evangeline gave into his kiss and place a hand in his hair pulling him deeper into the kiss. The other hand found its way to his chest and started undoing the buttons to his shirt. John’s hands traveled to her chest and unbuttoned her shirt as well. They both got their shirts off and John crawled on top of her kissing down her neck and finding his way to her breasts. She arched his back and his hand fell up under her and found it’s way to her bra. He worked at un doing the bra and the clasp came off. Evangeline found the zipper of her skirt and unzipped it and it slid off along with her bra.

He kissed her breasts and traveled down her stomach and her legs parted letting him have full access. John unzipped his pants and pulled them off. He took her hands and pinned them over her head with one hand as his other explored the inner workings of her body. Her eyes closed and he watched her back arch and her body squirm under his touch.

“Look at me.” He said quietly. Her eyes opened and found his looking deeply at her.

“John…” she said desperately wanting him to enter her.

“Not yet.” He said watching her lose control. He continued to pleasure with his touch and made her whole body shutter with complete gratification.

“John, please.” She said wanting him to make love to her.

He crawled back on top of her and slowly entered her at first just teasing her then he let himself totally and completely fill her. He let out a soft groan as he found pleasure just being this close to her. Their fingers interlocked as he hovered over her thrusting slowly at first and then picking up the pace. She let go of his hands and wrapped her legs and arms around him. He went deeper into her then they both thought possible. He buried his face into her hair and kissed her neck as they both came closer and closer to climaxing.

“Ohh, My God! Yes! Yes! John.” She yelled at the top of her lungs as she climaxed with him.

He collapsed on top of her still inside of her. He looked down at her and kissed her softly on the lips. He rolled over to lay next to her and pulled the covers over both of them.

“Wow!”

“That was amazing.” He said turning to face her. He stroked her face and played in her hair. “There is something I have to tell you.” He said with a serious look in his face.

“Really? It sounds serious is everything okay?”

“Everything is perfect as long as I am with you. But that is not what I wanted to say.”

“What is it John, you can tell me anything.”

He scanned her face and traced her bottom lip with his finger.

“John, what is it?”

“I…” John started and his phone began to rang. She sat up to hand it to him and he stopped her, “Let it ring I have to say this now.”

“Oh, okay.” She said sounding a little worried.

He sat up and took her hands into his, “I umm… When Caitlyn died I thought that I would never meet anyone that could make me feel any where close to the way she did. Then you kissed me at the Palace. Something about that kiss took me completely by surprise.”

“Me too, John.” She said looking deeply into his eyes.

“You make me feel things that I never thought I would feel; when you are near me I get completely lost in you and everything that you are. You have taught me how to love again; you were patient with me and allowed me to heal from the loss of Caitlyn. Basically what I am trying to say is that I love you Evangeline.” Tears started to pool in his eyes as the words that he had so longed to say and that she had longed to hear finally were spoken. He cupped her face in his hands and waited for her response.

“John, I don't know what to say.”

“You don't have to say anything; I just wanted to let you know how I felt and how much you mean to me. He said as he started to get up from the bed. He handed expected this type of response and started to regret saying anything at all.

Evangeline sat stunned at what he had just admitted. She never expected anything like that from him. She knew that she loved him and she could tell that he loved her even before he spoke the words. The way he made love to her the way he smiled at her the way he touched her and tried to protect her, told her that he loved her. Hearing the actual words shocked her and she realized that she had not spoken when he started to get up from the bed.

“I love you too.” She blurted out stopping him from moving away from the bed. He turned around and looked back at her smiling face.

He slowly sat back down on the bed, “What?”

“I love you too, John McBain.” She placed her hand on his cheek and gently stroked it with her thumb. He closed his eyes as he placed his hand on hers and moved it towards his lips and gently kissed the inside of her palm. She moved closer to him and ran her hand through his hair. “Say it again John.” She said watching him closely.

“I love you Evangeline Williamson.” He said slowly opening his eyes and moving his lips towards her and lightly kissing her. She fell into the kiss and he wrapped his arms around her naked body and pulled her on top of him.

She pulled away from the kiss and looked him into his eyes and gently caressed his chin and jaw line, “I love you John, now and forever. I have something for you. Since you didn't tell me when it was your birthday and I really didn't get to get you an appropriate present, I got you something now.”

“Really?”

“Yes.” She reached for her purse that was on the floor at the end of the bed. She dug into it and found the small box. She handed him the box, “Go ahead and open it.”

He smiled at her and slowly opened the box. It was a gold pocket watch. “Evangeline this is great! Thank you.” He said kissing her on the cheek.

“Turn it over.” She said smiling back at him.

John did as he was told and read the inscription aloud, We have all the time in the world. “Thank you. So is this what the big surprise was from the answering machine?”

“Yes it is. Are you surprised?”

“Yes, very. Thank you again.”

He admired the watch and looked back up at her and kissed her tenderly on the lips he set the watch on the night stand and pulled her close to him.

The both smiled and then she laid her head on his chest and they both feel asleep. They lost control of their bodies when they made love and with one surprise kiss they lost control of their emotions and feelings for one another. They both were control freaks but when around one another all sense of control went out the door.
