“Good Morning to you Jax, did we have a meeting that I am late for?”

“No, not at all. I just wanted to see if you had a chance to work on the files anymore after I left?” Jax asked as he walked into Evangeline’s office holding the door open for her.

“Well, actually no I haven't. I apologize for that. But if you have the time, my calendar is clear today. We can work on them as long as needed.”

“That would be great, let me call my assistant and let her know to forward all important calls to my cell phone.”

“Okay, I will let you make that call, I have to run down the hall real quick for some other papers for this case. I will be right back okay?” She said walking towards the door.

“Take your time.” He said as he stood and watched her walk out of the office. “Yeah, Chloe, can you make sure all of my calls are forwarded to my cell phone. I won't be in the office today. Also make sure that Alexis knows how much her suggestion of Evangeline Williamson working on this for me really helped me out. Yeah I will check in later.”

Jax ended his call and stood up and walked around Evangeline’s desk and saw the picture of her and John at Nora’s wedding. Evangeline came strolling back in and saw Jax looking around her desk. r “Is there something I can help you with?” she asked closing the door behind her, wondering why Jax was looking around her desk.

“Just, being nosy that is all, I like to know about the people I work closely with. Sorry about that. So is this your boyfriend?” he asked holding up the picture and turning it towards her.

“Yes, no, I mean actually he is my fiancé.”

“Oh.” He replied moving from behind her desk and back to the chair.

“Yes, we got engaged last night actually.” She said taking the picture from him and setting it back in the center of her desk.

“Well, congratulations then. What’s the lucky guys name?” r “John, Lieutenant John McBain.”

“Ah, a police officer huh?”

“Yeah, why do you say it like that?”

“I don't know, just thought that a high priced and powerfully attorney such as yourself would be dating someone like a Corporate Vice President or something. That is all.” He said with a smile.

“Well, you thought wrong.”

“Apparently so. So did you get those files that you needed?” Jax asked changing the subject.

“I did, so let’s get to work.” Evangeline said with a smile.

Jax and Evangeline worked on the take over deal and checking for loop holes and drop points. They worked through the morning and when Evangeline looked down at her watch she realized it was already 12:30 and her stomach started growling.

“Are you hungry?” Jax asked her.

“Yes I am.”

“Would you like to have lunch with me, we can make it a business lunch.”

“How about this, we have lunch but not talk about business.” She said.

“Deal. How is the Palace, I hear they have great food.”

“They do. Let’s go.”

“Great I will drive.” Jax said, packing up the files and grabbing his cell phone off the desk.

Jax and Evangeline left her office and headed towards the Palace for lunch. Jax drove a slick BMW that was a two seater and was silver in color.

“Wow, nice car.” She said sliding in to the passenger seat.

“Thanks.” He replied.

Police Station

John sat at his desk working on the files that had accumulated over the past couple of hours. Ever couple of minutes he would look up at the picture of himself with Evangeline at Nora’s wedding and smiled. A knock came at his door, and then it opened before he could tell whom ever it was to come in.

“Hey, Johnny. How is it going?”

“Michael, did I say come in?” John said looking up from the files on his desk.

“Oh, sorry Bro. Do you want me to go out and come back in?”

“No, no what can I do for you Mikey?”

“Well I just came by to say hi and to see how things are going with you. We haven't talked in a while, just checking in with my big bro. That’s all.”

“Everything is fine Michael, how are things with you?” John asked in a sarcastic tone.

“Well, they are great John. How is Evangeline?”

“She is fine, Michael. Listen I have some work to do, what can I help you with really Michael.”

“Johnny, what aren't you telling me?”

“Okay, listen Michael. Evangeline wanted to tell you and Marcie together tomorrow night at dinner but since you are here and you won't go away. We got engaged last night.”

“You did what! Does Mom know yet?”

“No, big mouth she doesn't and don't tell her. Evangeline has her heart set on telling Mom. If you ruin this Michael so help you.”

“Ok, okay, I won't tell mom. Wow John this is huge. How did you get her to marry you?”

“What is that suppose to mean?” John asked raising one of his eyebrows towards Michael.

“I mean, she wasn't hot on the whole marriage idea when you guys first started dating. How did you change her mind?”

“Honestly, I don't know. I thought she was going to say no. I was hoping that she wouldn't say no, but I had a small doubt in my head that she would say no and just want to keep things the way they were.”

“Well, I am really happy for you John. Evangeline is great for you. She has done a lot for you and I am glad that you two found each other.”

“Me too, Mikey me too.” John said with a grin on his face.

“I will let you get back to work, okay. Give Evangeline my love and I will see you guys at dinner tomorrow. Call me with the when and where. Bye Bro.”

“Bye, Michael.”
