Chapter 2
As John was walking to his car to head back to the office his cell phone rang.
"Who is calling this early?" he thought to himself. "McBain"
"Good morning Lieutenant" as sweet soft voice said to John over the phone.
"Well good morning to you counselor." It was Evangeline Williamson. He had missed her past couple of days. They both had been working on cases, him on the Killing Club Murders, and her on helping Antonio get Jamie back from RJ.
"Up and at them I see" she replied.
"You know it."
"You sound tired, is everything okay?"
"Just have not been sleeping very well the past couple of days, something or should I say someone has been missing from my bed."
"Oh really" she retorted in a coy manner. She knew John was talking about her. They had been spending a lot of time together but since these Murders started and the custody case heated up, she had not been spending much time in John McBains’ bed. She missed it too, and she could tell he missed her too.
"Yes really, I miss you"
"Is it really that hard to sleep without me Lieutenant?"
"I am not going to answer that, I plead the fifth." He said using her lawyers speak on her.
"Okay that is fine, I was wondering if I could pull you away for lunch say around 12:30?" she asked him, hoping that he would say yes. She missed having lunch with him and she wanted him to know it.
"Maybe." He said with a smirk coming across his face.
"What do you mean maybe, you just told me that you missed me and know you cannot even agree to a lunch?" She said with a little bit of an attitude.
He heard that attitude in her voice, and loved the fact that it could be so easy to push her buttons. He always knew exactly where to push. It was much more easily now than it had been when they first started seeing each other.
"Of course I will have lunch with you, wouldn’t want anything else than to have lunch with a beautiful lawyer. He said trying to calmly her down.
"Deal I will see you at your office at 12:30. Love you McBain." She said waiting for his response
"I will be the one with the black suit on, I love you too Williamson." He said with a smile a thousand miles wide on his face.
Evangeline smiled as she hung up the phone. It was 8:45 in the morning and she had a 9 am meeting with a new client. She called the local deli downstairs and ordered a picnic lunch for her and J. It was suppose to be a beautiful day and she was going to spend it with her boyfriend. A knock came at the door as Evangeline was finishing up her order with the deli. She was a control freak and a perfectionist at that and she wanted to make sure the order was exactly right.
"Yes that is right, No! I said macaroni salad not potato salad. Thanks." As she was talking to the deli a tall slender man with blonde hair and blue eyes walked through the door.
"Damn he is gorgeous. She thought to herself. She motioned for him to come in and mouthed "I will be right with you."
He strolled into her office and took stock of her décor and degrees. He was quite impressed with her accomplishments. Not only was she smart but she was also one of the most stunning woman he had seen. The way her hair flowed and landed on her shoulders, her eyes were a deep brown. A man could get lost in those eyes he thought. Her voice was soft but powerful. Alexis was right she seemed innocent but when needed she could be forceful and powerful. As she stood up she had an amazing body to go with that amazing face.
