Web of Deception Chapter 12

Lorraine couldn't shake the chill she felt from Victor's smile. She was still trying to figure out his cryptic remark. "Keesha's special in so many ways. You'll find out one day."

"I don't know what he meant. But I do know, this wedding can't happen." She had to talk to Malcolm.

Lorraine punched his number into her cell phone and left a voice mail. "Malcolm, this is Lorraine. I need to see you right away. Meet me at 1:00pm at the usual spot."

She left the mansion, hoping that Malcolm would come to his senses. If not, she would be forced to take drastic measures.

Victor watched Lorraine speed off from the window of his office. "I wonder where she's rushing off to." Before he could finish his thought, the private line rang.

"Hello John."

"Victor."

"What do you have for me?"

"Your suspicions were half right," he replied.

"What do you mean?"

"Lorraine and Malcolm were having an affair early last year. I don't know, if you're aware of this, but your wife is not the most popular woman. Most people were more than willing to talk."

"Just get to the point," Victor said through gritted teeth, as he gripped the phone tighter.

"Sorry. As I was saying, they were having an affair early last year, for about three months. It appears things ended badly, when Mr. Winters expected Lorraine to leave you to be with him."

"And now he's engaged to my daughter," he said unable to hide the rage.

"Apparently, he started aggressively pursuing Keesha a few months later. No doubt to rub it in Lorraine's face."

"Is he still fucking my wife?" Victor asked in a harsh tone.

"No," John replied. "It appears he's been faithful to Keesha, but that doesn't stop him from flirting with the ladies."

"Arrogant, self-centered little prick."

"Do you want me to continue," John asked with an uneasy feeling.

"No, just send me the rest of the report."

"You'll have it within the hour."

"As usual, you've done an excellent job. The rest of your money will be deposited in your account."

"I always enjoy doing business with you," John replied. "Will you need me for anything else?"

"Not at this moment, but stick around. I'll have something for you. Just send the hotel bill to me."

"I'm just a phone call away," John said and hung up. "Now, I can get to important matters, tracking down that brown-eyed beauty from the elevator."

Evangeline was sitting in the elegant hotel bar fending off the fourth or was it the fifth asshole with another tired line.

During the past few weeks she had stayed close to Keesha, listening to her complaints about her overbearing mother and her love for Malcolm. All the while Evangeline kept a low profile from Lorraine. If her plan was going to work, she had to stay out of Loraine Mansfield's line of fire.

As a successful partner in one of the most prestigious law firms in New York, Evangeline had definite political ambitions. Since her father raised her to never lose or settle for second best, she had no intentions of letting Malcolm marry Ms. Keesha Ward Mansfield. She was going to be the next Mrs. Malcolm Winters and eventually, the next Attorney General of New York.

Evangeline sat at the bar enjoying the apple martini and jazz music playing in the background, when the intense blue eyes captured her attention, as he entered the bar.

Goosebumps ran down her spine, as the mysterious stranger sat next to her.

"Hello," he said in a low husky voice that dripped of lust. "My name is John."

"Evangeline," she said as the touch of his lips scorched her hand.

"Are you expecting someone," he asked taking in every inch of her beauty.

"Yes, you," she said confidently, licking the green olive, before slowly sucking it into her mouth.

"I'm all yours," he smiled, wanting to devour her luscious ruby red lips.

"All mine?" she asked seductively looking him up and down.

"All yours, whenever, wherever, however you want," he whispered.

"You have a naughty mind. I like that, John," she laughed.

"What else do you like?" he smiled mischievously.

"Why don't we go to my room and you can figure it out," she smiled.

"Yes, mame!"
